Three-Dimensional Printing in Breast Reconstruction: Current and Promising Applications

This study, carried out by Horacio F. Mayer *, Alejandro Coloccini, and José F. Viñas, and published in the Journal of Clinical Medicine, digs into the current and promising future applications of three-dimensional printing in Breast Reconstruction.
Making use of the latest technologies available, they have analyzed the great versatility that can be offered by 3D printed scaffolds. Hand in hand with this technology, they have used Crisalix 3D images, which have been of great relevance in preoperative planning and postoperative applications.

Three-dimensional Simulation on Patient-reported Outcomes Following Oncoplastic and Reconstructive Surgery of the Breast

In this prospective study, we randomized 69 breast cancer patients undergoing breast-conserving surgery with oncoplastic or immediate-based reconstruction after mastectomy to receive 3D simulation of postoperative results (intervention group) or 3D imaging without simulation. The intervention group was more satisfied with preoperative information provided.
Preoperative 3D simulation significantly improved patient satisfaction with information and did not decrease postoperative satisfaction with results.

InstantAvatar: Efficient 3D Head Reconstruction via Surface Rendering

Recent advances in full-head reconstruction have been obtained by optimizing a neural field through differentiable surface or volume rendering to represent a single scene. While these techniques achieve an unprecedented accuracy, they take several minutes, or even hours, due to the expensive optimization process required. In this work, we introduce InstantAvatar, a method that recovers full-head avatars from few images (down to just one) in a few seconds on commodity hardware.

Case report on facial hidradenoma papilliferum, rare aggressive benign tumor

A rare case of hidradenoma papilliferum was diagnosed in a 70-year-old male patient presenting with a subcutaneous nodule on his nasolabial fold. Excisional biopsy was performed with sufficient safety margins to prevent residual growth, followed by reconstruction planning guided by Crisalix 3D images technology.

Role of 3D Simulation in breast augmentation

Patient satisfaction is of paramount importance in breast augmentation surgery. One of the most important determinants of the post-operative outcome is the implant volume.[...] With the advent of three-dimensional (3D) simulations, this technique is increasingly being employed in pre-operative counseling sessions to aid the patient in choosing the right implant size for herself. We wished to study the usefulness of 3D simulation as a clinical aid in pre-operative counseling of breast augmentation patients.

SIRA: Relightable Avatars from a Single Image

This paper introduces SIRA, a method that reconstructs human head avatars from a single image with high-fidelity geometry and factorized lights and surface materials. Experiments show that SIRA obtains state-of-the-art results in 3D head reconstruction while at the same time, it successfully disentangles the global illumination, and the diffuse and specular albedos.

Facial Anthropometry and Analysis in Egyptian Women

The purpose of this study was to establish facial soft tissue norms for the Egyptian female population between the ages of 18 and 50, as well as Several age-related changes in facial measurements. Facial measurements were obtained by both direct (caliper-based) and indirect (3D Crisalix software) anthropometric analysis.
